Emu Leather

The skin of the emu is characterized by a raised area around the follicles. Other members of the same bird family, such as the ostrich have similar skins. The raised areas are more numerous than those on an ostrich skin and cover the entire skin.

Tanned Emu Body Leather is used successfully in clothing and accessories such as wallets and bags. Leather from the legs is also highly valued for accessories such as belts or watch bands. Skins are sold by the skin with the average skin measuring between 5 – 7 square feet, while a leg measures up to 0.5 square feet.
